![]() ![]() Yep, that’s pretty much the plot of the game. However, Last Battle changes up the formula a little bit in that instead of being forced along a set of stages in a predetermined order, you’re given an overworld map and can progress along it on any path you so choose. Trudging through each stage, you punch and kick your way through fodder enemies until you reach a much more difficult end boss. On first glance, Last Battle is very much in the tradition of two dimensional brawlers that, in a way, both begins and ends with Karateka. So today, we’re continuing our 80s coverage by reviewing one of the console’s launch titles: Last Battle! Splatterhouse 2 offers three difficulty levels (normal, difficult and game master) which determine how many hits Rick can take before dying.Welcome back to 80s August, The Splintering’s month-long celebration of the greatest decade since the Trojan War!ĭespite being a prominent presence of the 90s gaming scene, many forget that the SEGA Genesis (aka Mega Drive) was actually released in 1989. Also available on each stage is a weapon or two to help out: chainsaws, bones, clippers, oars, shotguns, potassium bombs, lead pipes, and ghouls' heads. Rick's standard moves consist of a punch, normal kick, flying kick and slide kick. Defeat the monster and you'll progress to the next level as well as receive a password to resume progress. Once you complete the two to three stages comprising each level, you'll have to square off against a large, powerful boss creature. The creatures you'll face include giant leeches, zombies, ghouls, sludge monsters and even severed arms! Splatterhouse 2 is a side-scrolling beat-em-up with a horror theme. Rick won't be alone in this journey, however, as the Terror Mask transforms him into a hulking beast to pulverize enemies. ![]() Jennifer has once again been kidnapped by an evil force and only Rick can save her! In this 8-Meg sequel to the TurboGrafx 16's Splatterhouse, you'll need to traverse through eight horrific levels (each spanning multiple scenes) in your effort to rescue your girlfriend. ![]()
